R A Dalton and his Merrie Men

One brisk morning in early June there was a new job on the horizon for R A Dalton Ltd. One lucky team of engineers were assigned the task to carry out a new installation at a large holiday facility located along the picturesque shores of Robin Hoods Bay, this site was understandably very popular due to its idyllic location being only a matter of minutes away from the cliff edged coastline and a short drive from Whitby Seafront.
As with any site, especially ones of this size and popularity, it was of utmost importance that the new waste management system was capable of dealing with both the peak and off peak daily flows and loads. When Alistair attended the site in March he drew together a proposal designed to make sure that the site was compliant with all permits.
The tank that was installed on the campsite was an old Brick built Septic tank that had served its purpose for many years prior but with new legislation and growth in the site it was no longer capable of dealing with the effluent volume and as it discharged to a watercourse it was no longer in compliance and needed replacing before 2020.
The proposed plan was to install a package sewage treatment plant and an 8,000 litre holding tank complete with an Elson Waste disposal unit all of which had key roles to play in the successful operation of this site.
The system we proposed to install was a Klargester NL BioDisc as this plant is designed for an application with a treatment flow rate of 20m3 based on an effluent discharge quality of 10 mg/l of ammonia (A standard effluent quality is 20 mg/l of ammonia). The Klargester BioDisc also offers a near silent operation which would not disturb the tranquillity of the site.
The 8,000 litre holding tank and Elson waste disposal unit also plays a key part in the process, this removes the chemical impact on the sewage treatment plant as a lot of chemicals used in caravan and portable loos would kill the natural bacteria in a sewage treatment plant and any waste of this type should ideally be isolated from discharging to a watercourse.
At R A Dalton we accommodate a large variety of sites and adjust the proposals dependant on the individual requirements which can be anything from a straightforward small domestic installation to a large commercial venture with intricate and specific requirements.
