The Full Package

When we look at our installations as a whole it is easy to see that there is a pretty even split between the types of customer we deal with; from the large business owners and commercial properties, the owners of domestic dwellings, jobs that are required to be carried out under insurance and where property management companies or developers who are tasked with upgrading or building properties.
For one property in Kings Lynn we were contacted by an estate management company to see if we would like to be considered for a Tender to install a new package sewage treatment plant. Not long after initial contact our contracts manager Andrew Hill attended the site in order to consider a process for the proposed works.
Prior to Andrew’s attendance, the consultants that were looking at a complete overhaul of the property had a good idea in mind of what drainage would be required; it was only when it became more specific that we were brought in to advise on the model of the sewage treatment plant along with plant location, drainage runs and the amount of inspection chambers that were required.
During the site visit there were two possible options for the treatment plant, we promoted the Klargester BB BioDisc as the preferred option as they are one of the most economical sewage treatment plants on the market. The BioDisc is also simpler to maintain and also long as the regular services are carried out the system operates with minimal noise pollution.
The Bioficient 3 would have also been another option for this property, this would have been the cheaper option to install but not as cost effective in the long run.
In December, we received confirmation that we had, on this occasion, won the tender to carry out the works and by the back end of January we were able to start on site. Over the entirety of the installation we installed over 54m of pipework, 50 metres of inlet and 4 metres of outlet to watercourse.
Over the drainage run we installed 6 inspection chambers on the inlet line and a sample point on the outlet – these are vital if problems should occur as it can help identify if there is a blockage on the drainage line or if it is located within the tank.
To install the new sewage treatment plant we were required to dig through a variety of different surfaces, for some sections we were working through concrete, tarmac, paving (which was required to be lifted and reinstated after our works) and soil.
After all the works have been completed we included within our costs to bring in a specialised subcontractor to provide a fence to secure the treatment plant area, this was to ensure that the fence was built to specification .
For each site we work at we vary our scope of works and different sites and customers desire different outcomes, where most residential property owners would much rather carry out the reinstatement themselves so they can have more input as to how they would like their garden to be reinstated.
