Hold the traffic! Premier Tech ASP8 on the way.
No matter what our main priority on site is health and safety for our engineers, customer and the general public and under certain circumstances this can require extensive safety measures. Back in July one of our installation teams was working near Harrogate installing a new Premier Tech Aqua ASP8 Package sewage treatment plant where we had to go the extra mile…
The property where we were working was along a fast flowing main road and with no access directly into site for the delivery vehicles (machinery, tank, gravel, concrete etc), we were required to acquire traffic management to enable safe delivery for everyone involved.
The 2020 General Binding Rules.
When our contracts manager Ian Murray attended earlier in the year it was recommended that existing septic tank was replaced with a new sewage treatment plant as the tank insitu was non-compliant in regards to the 2020 General Binding Rules.
We proposed to install a new Premier Tech Aqua ASP8 package sewage treatment plant and utilise the existing outlet pipework, the inlet however did require some modifications as the surface water was connected. To remedy this we installed 5 metres of drainage to bypass the new installation and connect to the outlet sample point.
The Premier Tech Aqua ASP8.
Besides the slight complication of deliveries the job in itself was rather straight forward with the new sewage treatment plant was installed in the property’s back garden. Costs to the customer were also limited by the utilisation of as much pipework as possible and 2 no. manholes installed (one on the inlet and one on the outlet) to allow for sufficient monitoring of the tank.
Once the installation of the new tank was complete, the old tank was then emptied, decommissioned and filled with gravel. For any of our installations we opt to infill with gravel instead of soil to counteract the effect of any subsidence that may occur after the ground has settled.
When all works was complete and all machinery collected the traffic lights were then powered off and removed from the road to allow traffic flow to return.
