Legal requirements and correct procedures

It is a legal requirement that correct procedures are followed when installing off-mains drainage, as there are very strict guidelines in place for installing any sewage treatment system. Local Authorities differ in their processes to completing the relevant applications and licenses, and this can seem like a headache, but it doesn’t need to be.

Here at RA Dalton, our dedicated team can provide advice and support in making the correct applications to the appropriate government bodies, or alternatively we can manage all correspondence and applications on your behalf, so that you have peace of mind that everything is completed legally, professionally and at the right time.

Permits and Licences

In many situations when installing off-mains drainage, the Environment Agency (or SEPA for installations in Scotland) must be notified from the registering of a septic tank to a consent to discharge licence, or a completely bespoke permit. The team at RA Dalton have the expertise and experience to liaise with the Environment Agency or SEPA on your behalf.

Building Regulations

You may be required to apply for a building notice under Part H through your local authority. From advising on whether Building Control is required, to completing the appropriate application form, liaising with your local authority, providing further information and arranging for a building inspector to attend site, the dedicated team at RA Dalton can handle it all for you.

Other Legislation

Your installation may require an application to Connect to a Main Sewer and/or a Section 50 License to excavate in the highway. Our team can select the correct applications, complete them on your behalf and manage all communications with the appropriate bodies to ensure everything is completed efficiently.
