Even though the majority of our installations are either Sewage treatment systems, Septic tanks, Grease traps or pump stations every now and again we are tasked with a new challenge. Over the past few months we have been assigned a number of jobs which have allowed us to utilise our expertise in wastewater to achieve the desired result for the customer.

As of late we have had a number of enquiries about different aspects of foul water works including connection to mains sewers and installation of Elson Waste tanks on Caravan parks.

For one site in the Lake District they were needing a new Elson waste tank to be installed at a site which was a mix of glamping pods, holiday homes and touring bays. Due to the aesthetic nature of the site we opted for the most minimalistic approach possible.

The tank we opted to install was a vertical unit designed to reduce impact of the services in the area and we proposed to install in outside of the existing disposal point which allowed us to retain the site initial design.

The new tank we decided was the best to install was designed with a 6 m³ storage facility and came with access via a hinged lid for the emptying. The Elson waste tanks are an essential for caravan parks and the likes as chemical waste from caravan toilets and portable toilets would disrupt the treatment process if they were to be tipped into a Sewage treatment plant or septic tank.

The chemicals used in a lot of the caravans and portable toilets are in fact extremely harmful to the bacteria that promotes the treatment process and at no point should it be allowed to contaminate these tanks.
