RA Dalton Success Stories
RA Dalton Ltd are the Klargester number one accredited installer covering the whole of the UK.
When it rains… It pours… A wet and wild Klargester Bioficient 6 installation.
Whenever we start an installation in winter we know there is a likelihood that we will encounter unsavory conditions and when it rains it pours! Starting an install anywhere this time of year can be a bit touch and go, let alone in Yorkshire.
Working on a new commercial site just below York we were contracted to install a new Klargester Bioficient 6 package sewage treatment plant to serve 3 no. 3 bedroom cottages and up to 35 staff in the commercial premises. It was calculated that the flow would be approx. 4m3 per day and the estimated population equivalent of 30.
Having previous knowledge of the area and having installed systems nearby we identified that there was a good chance we would need Shoring on site. The sandy subsoil and sodden weather meant that we were taking no risks and the sheet piling equipment was arrange for delivery on the same day we started.
The Kingspan Klargester Bioficient 6 Sewage treatment plant.
To minimalize the dig depth required and hopefully reduce the severity of the running sand a shallower excavation was desirable. Akin with the ever popular Klargester Bioficient 1, the Bioficient 6 is essentially just the bigger version of this system, the tank uses the same aeration technology which work to an effluent standard of 20:30:20 (BOD:SS:Ammonia).
The proposed discharge for this system was directly to a watercourse therefore ensuring that an appropriate and certified system was installed.
With the amount of ground water coming in to the excavation and with the rain being persistent in its efforts to drown us we were required to be more stringent than usual in our requirement for using a dry mix concrete, any deviations for this could prove rather problematic!
Confidence in success.
Over the years at R A Dalton we have built up a fantastic base of plant hire companies who we utilise on a regular basis for excavator and dumper hire; one of the companies you will see us using most prominently in the North East and Yorkshire is Chippindale Plant. Using companies we can trust with our plant hire is vital and this was demonstrated even more so on this site when our machinery requirements changed a number of times and often with tight turnarounds and we were dependent on their delivery times and as ever, Chippindale Plant pulled through for us!
Our engineers worked tirelessly battling the weather conditions making sure the excavation was as dry as possible and the tank fully encased in the concrete. Given the miserable conditions we cannot fault the finish our lads left on the installation – mud? What mud?
