#Throwback Thursday – Mud, rocks and a Bioficient 2.
Today we take a little trip down memory lane to 2018 to a little installation in Cumbria where our team were tasked with the job of tackling a variety of ground conditions…
For one site we installed at in Ambleside the perfect tank to install was a Bioficient 2, it was to serve a 4 bedroom property that had an archaic septic tank which was proving unfit for purpose. We proposed to install the new tank in a similar location utilising the existing inlet drainage which was still flowing freely and discharging the treated effluent directly to a watercourse.
Where possible as long as the tank is going in a similar location and the pipework is in good functional order, we try to opt to use the existing pipework to cut out unnecessary, time consuming and potentially costly extra work.

The Bioficient sewage treatment system has easily proven to be one of the most popular tanks to install over this past year and we have a feeling this will continue into the next year. Offering optimum efficiency at bargain prices they are prevalent both with the contract’s managers and customers.
Another highlight of the Bioficient is the variant of sizes these come in, from the Bioficient 1 designed to handle up to a 6 population property to the Bioficient 80 which can cope with up to 300 population or even a commercial application.

As we were anticipating encountering hard ground/ rock we hired a breaker to work alongside a 4 ton excavator, later on in the works as the ground was proving to be tougher than expected we had to hire in a larger 8 ton machine with pecker to chip away at the rock.
After the painstaking task of digging the excavation for the tank we could then move swiftly to install the new Bioficient 2 in a full concrete surround.
As mentioned in some of my previous blogs the weather condition at this time of year is making what should be a quick and easy job a lot more complicated, with the ground becoming sodden the excavations may need intermittent dewatering and it becomes a lot more difficult to take care of the ground conditions on site. For this site in particular this meant more spoil needed to be taken away and further reinstatement of the working area was required.
All in all we are all wishing for summer to return! But none the less we continue to plod on through the muddy months trying to make sure everyone gets their installation done in the timeliest manner. For more information on our installations why not give us a call on 01388 537030.
