Klargester BioDiscs, Installations and Ground Stabilisation
Here at R A Dalton we love it when customers return to us for new projects and continuing maintenance work, we work alongside a wide selection of estates and companies for installations, servicing and desludging ensuring not only are they compliant with all the necessary rules and regulations but also operating to the optimum required efficiency.
One estate in North Yorkshire has now used our teams on a multitude of installations, varying from smaller domestic units suiting farm steadings to package sewage treatment plants servicing larger developments and commercial units.
The Klargester BD BioDisc package sewage treatment plant
When our contracts manager originally attended site a few years prior to provide a quotation to supply and install a suitable package sewage treatment plant to serve the 5-bedroom Farmhouse and commercial units with a peak occupancy of 25 people we provided two options for the installation.
The two main choices to suit this project was either the Klargester BioTec 4 (now currently known as an L25 BioTec) or a Klargester BD BioDisc, both optionsĀ provided had corresponding pros and cons which were outlined in detail along with sending the customer the brochures on each unit.
Detailing our proposal allows the customer to make an educated decision on which unit best fits their project, on this occasion the BioDisc option was selected as the chosen unit with the initial additional costs was preferred based on the long term operational saving over the alternative unit.
Installation of the Klargester BD BioDisc
Due to the nature of the expected ground conditions, it was likely that the installation would require the use of ground stabilisation in the form of shoring equipment. The likelihood of this being needed was greater due to the invert on the system being a 1100mm invert, this increased the depth of the excavation meaning the chances of hitting running sand were higher.
Once on site we allowed our installation team to carry out an initial trial dig, this is usually our preferred course of action if we are not 100% sure that shoring will definitely be required. Shoring is without a doubt a costly and often time consuming affair and if it can be avoided this would reduce the installation costs for our customer.
When the trial digs started to take place the bands of sandy materials became apparent within the clay subsoils, so to ensure the safe working of our engineers the shoring was confirmed and delivered on the morning of the second day.
Servicing and ongoing maintenance of the Klargester sewage treatment plant
Once the new sewage treatment plant has been sited, fully installed in a concrete encasement as per the manufacturer’s guidelines, shoring removed, the area reinstated, and the system fully commissioned on completion of our works the forward planning could commence in the form of setting up a maintenance contract.
All of our new installations are issued with a completion pack which includes but is not limited to; The O&M Manual (owners and maintenance manual), warranty details, servicing proposal, a list of helpful Dos and Don’t s to aid the day to day function of the treatment plant and photos of the installation from start to finish.
As we offer a full package to suit your project the end goal doesn’t have to be the completion of the installation, we can continue to assist with routine servicing, maintenance, emptying and even help during those dreaded (and hopefully infrequent!) callouts!
