Over the past several months, we have started to develop a new working relationship with a new (to us) tank supplier. As a company, we are always building new relationships with suppliers to try and ensure our customers not only receive the high standard of work but also at the best value possible.

Whilst predominantly the majority of systems we install are Klargester treatment plants and septic tanks we have started to offer Clenviro sewage treatment plants as an alternative where suitable. One of these sites was a rural farm in the County Durham countryside.

This system was proposed to replace the existing septic tank that was non-compliant with the 2020 General binding rules due to its discharge location, under this legislation if a system is to discharge directly into a watercourse it is required to have the BSEN12566-3 certification which the Clenviro Matrix package treatment plant passed with flying colours!

The Matrix treatment plant is a single structure system which is divided into three stages for the biological process, this system uses aeration to treat the wastewater. The Matrix system is designed using the configuration of a submerged bed reactor, the non-mechanical recirculation ensures optimal performance, this has been back up by the stringent testing carried out to ensure it was obtaining at the very least 20:30:20.

The external configuration of the treatment plant quickly proved to be a fan favourite for our installation engineers, the cylindrical shape allowed for a much easier installation and unlike a lot of the conical shaped systems it was easier to excavate and also to minimalize the amount of concrete required whilst still providing a secure concrete surround.

The new treatment plant was to be installed to the rear of the property with short sections or inlet and outlet drainage to divert the system from the existing septic tank location.

Under the watchful eye of the local residents our installation team carefully installed the new treatment plant and associated drainage meaning the property still had working facilities. Once the new treatment plant was up and operational, we then decommissioned the old septic tank and infilled with gravel to avoid any future settlement.
