Successful Installation of a Klargester NL BioDisc at Tollgate Brewery in Derbyshire

At RA Dalton, we pride ourselves on delivering tailored solutions for each of our clients, ensuring that their specific needs are met with the highest standards of service and quality. Recently, we completed the successful installation of a Klargester NL BioDisc at Tollgate Brewery, and we’re thrilled to share the details of this project. The end result was a satisfied customer who expressed their appreciation:

“Thank you. We are very pleased with the works and the end result. Cracking job! The install guys were excellent.” – Mr. Kevin Elliott, Tollgate Brewery.

This upgrade has been a game changer, allowing Mr. Elliot and his team to welcome an even larger number of visitors. With the ability to host more guests, they can now enjoy not only the brewery’s refreshing beers but also its exciting events and tours. The NL BioDisc has played a key role in enhancing the brewery’s operations, ensuring a sustainable and enjoyable experience for all who visit.

See below the process that made this installation a success.

Supply of the Klargester Treatment Vessel

The first step in the project was the delivery of the Klargester treatment vessel to the brewery site. This is the core component of the NL BioDisc system, designed to effectively treat the brewery’s wastewater. It was carefully transported to the location where it would be installed.

Provision of Excavation Equipment

Our team organised the necessary excavation equipment to be in place to prepare the site. This ensured that the ground was ready for the installation of the treatment vessel and the associated infrastructure. We pride ourselves in leaving a job clean and tidy, making sure we have the correct Excavation equipment is a key part of this, ensuring we can put the ground back as we found it.

Installation of Below-Ground Drainage

The next stage was the installation of 160 mm below-ground drainage pipes from the proposed washroom facilities to the Klargester treatment vessel. Proper drainage is critical for ensuring efficient wastewater management, so this was done with great care to ensure the correct flow rates and direction.

Power Supply and Control Panel Installation

We then supplied and installed the required power cable to the treatment plant. In addition, we provided a GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) kiosk to house the control panel. This step ensures the BioDisc system has the necessary electrical connections for optimal operation.

Outfall Installation to the Water Course

The next step involved the installation of an outfall from the treatment plant to the water course. This included the installation of a 160 mm plastic pipe, which was excavated to achieve a suitable gradient to ensure efficient flow. We also incorporated a sample point and a headwall at the point where the pipe enters the water course. This ensures proper monitoring and compliance with environmental regulations.

Grease Trap Installation

As part of the system, a grease trap was required. We supplied and installed the grease trap in a suitable location, making sure it was connected to the outfall as planned. The grease trap was encased in concrete with ventilation provided to the nearest suitable location, ensuring durability and proper operation. Heavy-duty access covers were also installed due the trap being in a trafficked area, ensuring safety and longevity.

Welfare and Health & Safety Requirements

We made sure to supply the necessary welfare facilities to support the workforce during the installation process. Additionally, all Health and Safety requirements were adhered to, ensuring that the work was completed in a safe and compliant manner.

Planning, Coordination, and Completion

Before work began, a detailed meeting was held to discuss the system upgrade, ensuring all parties were on the same page. A site meeting was arranged to confirm the plan, and after receiving the green light, we set a start date and a works completion deadline. Throughout the process, all certificates for building and electrical works were in place, and warranty registration was completed. The installation was successfully finished on time, and we delivered the expected results, leaving Tollgate Brewery with a top-notch wastewater treatment solution.
