Having sufficient drainage installed to suit your property is not only vital for your foul water but also your surface water as well. It soon becomes evident when something has started to go amiss, this will usually require some kind of remedial works to be undertaken.

Such was the case for a property in County Durham which have been experiencing a number of issues in relation to their surface water gullies overflowing. To investigate these issues, we arranged for a jetting unit to attend site to clear the blockages.

The first attendance on site to assess the situation highlighted a major issue in that the surface water gulley was missing its cover, this had allowed debris to enter the drainage and block the pipework. Once this was cleared and the pipework appeared to be flowing a new cover was installed and site was left in an operation order.

However, unfortunately the issue was greater than merely a blockage and the soakaway system was no longer functional as a matter of months later during a period of extended, heavy rainfall the drainage had once again caused the surface water to overflow.

To remedy the issues being experienced on site we provided a quotation for the supply and installation of a new suitable rainwater soakaway to receive the roof water/ surface water from the property. This required the installation of a new roddable gulley, approximately 8 metres of new pipework which discharged into 10 surface water soakaway crates.

All excess spoil was removed off site using skips and the garden area was reinstated to a tidy machine finish, you’d almost not even know we had been to site!
